Haseena Peer embarked on her yogic journey 10 years ago when she began practising Iyengar yoga. Seven years later she was introduced to Bikram Yoga and became addicted to the heat! Determined to share her passion for yoga and make a difference in the lives of others, Haseena trained as a Hot Yoga teacher.
She steadily progressed from practising yoga in her living room with a few close friends to opening her own studio under the name of Sunshine Yoga in Port Shepstone on the east coast of South Africa. Here she became an integral part of many lives as the exercise; the discipline and the healing that Hot Yoga has to offer together with Haseena’s commitment drew many to her practice. Fondly dubbed “Sergeant Major” by her students for her unyielding manner, she guided them with an inexplicable energy somewhat akin to that of the sun: truly alive, constantly inspiring, encouraging progression and, most importantly, radiating warmth and splendour.
Haseena now lives in Durban, where she teaches at The Breathing Space in Glenwood, and offers teacher training courses.
